Creating beautiful, confidence inspiring smiles, naturally

Losing one front tooth can be horrifying, or if you’ve lost most or all of your teeth, you’ll understand how embarrassing and confidence sapping having loose teeth can be. It stops you smiling, eating properly, avoiding social situations.

Dental implants can help you – they are simply the best option for tooth replacement today, for one tooth or all.

So what do you need to know?

  • Dental implants are safe for all ages.
  • Implants can last for life with proper maintenance.
  • Dental implants are today’s best alternative to natural teeth.
  • Successful dental implants become fully “integrated” with your body.
  • Implant procedures at our practice are less painful than a tooth extraction.
  • Implant success requires careful planning and placement by your surgeon.

What are they?

An implant is a sophisticated, precision made titanium screw with both internal and external fitting surfaces. The external surface is treated to enhance your jawbone’s ability to grow around the screw. Once placed, your bone begins growing around it, a process called “osseointegration”. The internal fitting surface allows dentists to connect crowns or bridges solidly and give you fixed, unremoveable teeth.

Are there risks?

Implant placement is a surgical procedure with all the normal surgical risks of infection, post operative pain and trauma. There can also be damage to anatomical structures and actual failure of the implant to integrate.

All these risks can be minimised by:

  • Adequate skill and experience of your dentist
  • Proper, thorough radiographic examination and pre operative planning
  • Careful, gentle surgical technique
  • Selection of a reliable implant brand and type appropriate to your situation
  • Thorough, hospital style sterility protocols
