Alex’s story
Hi! My name is Alex and I am very happy to introduce myself as the new Dental Hygienist at the Smile Doctor.
I have been employed in the dental industry for eight years now, three while I undertook my Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Newcastle. I am very passionate about oral health and all that entails maintaining it. I’m told I’m really gentle and have “piano hands”.
I have lived on the Northern Beaches my whole life and love to go to the beach and have fun with my friends and family. I look forward to meeting and caring for you in the future!
Stella’s story
At the tender age of 16, it only took my first weekend at Dee Why Beach for me to decide the Northern Beaches was the place for me! Soon I had left my parents in south west Sydney, rented an apartment and found a local job as a dental assistant, much to my parents’ distress.
I put myself through the University of Newcastle to complete my Bachelor of Oral Health and I came out, like most students, with high ideals, but more determined than most.
I didn’t want just any job. I decided to work for the Smile Doctor because it was a well established preventative dental practice with strong core philosophies of quality care with amazing back up for their work. And I’m now part of a team that strives to be better every year for their patients. Every day is a wonderful new challenge when you work in a dynamic practice like ours. The patients have become my friends and the staff have become my family. You know you’re onto something good when going to work makes you smile every day.
Ms Lynn Hiscocks .. a tribute to a very special mentor
Stella and Alex owe a lot of their skills to Lynn. Lynn worked at Smile Doctor for 10 years and has made extraordinary efforts to see that her skills have been retained in the practice for her patients. Thank you Lynn.
