Bite problems and headaches

You may be surprised to learn an alarming proportion of headaches are caused by bite problems or clenching teeth. Often, this tooth clenching or grinding is done at night so we are not even aware that we are doing it.

Our jaw joint with it’s supporting tendons and musculature is one of the most complex joint systems in the body. Because it can achieve so many different types of motion, it can be very sensitive to small discrepancies and is affected by overload.

Headaches, sore and sensitive teeth, clicking joints, can all be symptoms of severe teeth grinding and bite problems. If allowed to persist, such grinding will wear front teeth flat and break back teeth, especially those with large fillings.

Joint problems can also destabilise the neck verterbrae and mean constant chiropractic visits.

There a 3 major treatment modalities or philosophies for bite correction and joint problems. Our dentists are trained in all of the current philosophies and carry out an inclusive system to use what works for you, including working with chiropractors and podiatrists, other manual therapists to deal with underlying problems and restore health as well as relief of pain temporary solutions.
